Wow…what a horrible time we are in right now. Nothing like this has ever happened in my lifetime (and I’ve been told I’m as old as dirt!). And for it to hit our area during spring break, urgh! This is the week I usually get caught up from the slow months of January, February and early March. How do we go about trying to stay in business during a time when everyone is being urged to self-quarantine? Videos are awesome – and a great method of teaching, especially in situations like the one we are currently in. So, here’s what we’re going to do (and you have to do your best not to make fun of me while I’m learning how to do it! 🙂 )
- To Go Pottery Kits. Purchase your choice of pottery and we’ll provide five glaze colors. Extra colors will be $.50 each. One shopper (or parent/child) at a time by appointment only.
- To Go Clay Kits. $10/kit. We will provide 1 – 1 1/2 lbs. of wet clay, a paper plate and you will have access to a live video feed on FB (and perhaps we can save it to Youtube, not sure about that yet) that will give step by step instructions for a project. We will do several projects. After creation you can return the clay to the studio for firing for $5. You can either take it back home and paint with acrylic paints you already have or for another $5 you can return to ClayZ at a future date and paint with our glazes and we’ll refire.
- Craft projects. Once I get a little video recording savvy we may do free craft videos using items you can find at home to create. I love mixed media and whether you’re a teen or an adult, you will have a lot of fun being creative with items you have around the house and no artistic ability needed.
We are also willing to offer painting at the studio by appointment only. We will allow one family/group at a time in two hour increments. Attendees should be free from any form of illness, have been under self-quarantine for at least seven days and just to be as safe as possible and considerate of others, not interact with anyone over 60 in the 14 days following your visit to ClayZ (or until lives go ‘back to normal’ in our immediate area). We will disinfect before/after each customer appointment and highly encourage everyone in attendance to begin their visit by washing their hands with soap and water in the restroom before touching any pottery, furniture or other areas in the studio. It seems a bit over the top – even to me – but we do not want to be known as the place that someone contracted, shared or otherwise got Coronavirus in Brevard. Of course, as with all things – this could change depending on what the county requires us to do. To Go Clay Kits will be ready for pick up by Wednesday at 12 noon, they will be ready online for sale by this evening (3/23/20). We’ll post a link on Facebook where you can purchase online.
